Welcome to Hop Laps
Blame it on the Chili Bowl.
Last weekend, we made the annual pilgrimage to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the best weekend of the year. You just can't go wrong with over 340 race cars on hand, indoors, in January.
While we love our time at the Tulsa Expo Center, we also like to make the most of our travels, and squeeze in a little time to explore during the day. For us, this means looking for microbreweries and antique stores whenever possible. This year, we skipped "going junkin'" and opted instead to hit up three breweries in the area, and one on the way back home.
While sitting at the second brewery of the day, I tossed out the idea that we should write about our adventures, maybe do a "beer & race track pairing" guide for other folks like us. Scott liked the idea, so here we are, trying to make it happen.
The purpose of our new blog is to share a little bit about the breweries we find. We want to create an unoffiicial guide to places near the race tracks we visit, in hopes that others will enjoy these places as well. To be fair, it's Scott who is the brew fan, I'm pretty much there just to ogle the architecture, drool over colorful labels and decor, and serve as designated driver when necessary. While I'm not a fan of beer, I do enjoy a good hard cider, or a house made root beer when they are available.
If you want to see Scott's objective thoughts on the beers he tries, you can follow him on the Untapped app at SPBrew.
We're still working on the format for the posts, but one thing we want to make clear, we're not reviewing the establishments or their offerings. This is more informational than anything. Everyone's tastes are different, and it's up to you to decide what you like.
So, with that said, I'm going to close this post, and get started on our first actual brewery visit. Please feel free to follow along, leave comments and make suggestions for places you think we should visit.
